Piles of rubbish dumped by fly-tippers surround ex world boxing champ Amir Khan's £11.5million wedding venue - completely destroying the luxurious feel of a bride's special day.

Broken fridges, settees and dirty mattresses have been discarded against the perimeter walls of the lavish Dubai-inspired complex. While mounds of household rubbish lay strewn across the streets leading up to the imposing structure.

Chunks of rendering are already missing from the walls encasing the building, along with damaged brickwork at the entrance to the venue.

The complex - named 'The Balmayna' - features glass walls, a waterfall and palm trees inside - along with greenery and a floral design. But the venue, set to open just weeks away in March, is still surrounded by a building site and sandwiched between two car washes - despite its website promising a 'royalty experience' and 'a touch of magnificence and excellence in every celebration'.

Khan, now 37, has been planning 'The Balmayna' - which translates to 'enamelled' in Arabic - since 2013, with the complex already taking bookings despite its surroundings appearing largely unfinished.

The multi-million pound venture has received a mixed response from residents. Georgina Pickering said: 'It looks a mess at the moment with all the rubbish around the sides and walls but that will all be gone by the time it opens.

Amir Khan - who is married to model Faryal Makhdoom (left) - has built an £11.5million wedding venue in Bolton that 'looks like it belongs in Dubai'

'The building is massive - like a giant greenhouse, the like of which you'd see in Dubai - and does look odd next to everything else around here but it's an improvement on what used to be there.'
